AMD Drivers — Graphics and Chipset Driver Guide

Radeon graphics software and AMD chipset software serve different devices. A Ryzen processor alone does not identify every driver the computer needs, and an AMD graphics card can be installed in a PC with a different motherboard platform.

Identify the GPU and motherboard separately

Use Device Manager, Display adapters to inspect the graphics device and its status. For an unnamed adapter, read Hardware Ids in Properties, Details. Use System Information or the motherboard maker's product documentation for the platform; do not choose a chipset package solely from the GPU brand.

Check the installed Windows version and system type in Settings, System, About. Compare these with the supported devices and operating systems on the official package page. An ARM64 system needs explicitly supported drivers, and a package for a newer graphics generation does not establish support for an older one.

Choose graphics support for the actual system

Start with the PC manufacturer's support on a laptop or an OEM all-in-one, especially when the issue concerns display switching or power behavior. AMD's official driver selector can help locate supported Radeon packages, but read compatibility notes and known issues before replacing an OEM baseline.

AMD offers an optional detection tool for supported Windows systems. Obtain it only from AMD and review what it identifies. Detection is not a reason to install unrelated optional changes. On professional or managed systems, follow the application's or IT team's supported driver requirements.

Treat chipset, BIOS and graphics as different updates

Use the motherboard or PC maker's exact model support to determine the chipset and any required installation notes. An AMD chipset package is not the graphics driver, and neither is interchangeable with a BIOS update. Avoid installing firmware just because a driver search displayed a newer date.

If an unknown device remains after a chipset installation, inspect its status and identifiers again. It may belong to a separate controller or peripheral. Follow official prerequisites when documented; do not force-install a package onto an unmatched device or bypass a compatibility warning.

Make one justified change and retest

Windows Update can deliver applicable drivers. If you choose AMD support, keep the relevant OEM recovery package available, read the release notes and follow restart instructions. Confirm both the device status and the original symptom afterward; a successful installer does not prove a display or application fault is fixed.

DrvBeacon can organize detected hardware and installed-driver information without automatically installing AMD software. The Manual Driver Finder supports research for another PC. Avoid unofficial driver packs, mirrored binaries and instructions that require disabling Windows security protections.

Choose your next step

Use the evidence you collected. The Manual Driver Finder works for another PC without a scan. A scan of this PC requires the local Windows scanner; check scanner availability and setup first. DrvBeacon reads information and never installs a driver automatically.
