Missing Drivers

Some devices need a manufacturer-provided driver before Windows can use all their features. The scanner helps identify devices with missing drivers and explain the next steps.

Outdated Drivers

A newer version is not always the right version. The scanner queries the PC’s configured Windows Update source; the manual finder routes you to official manufacturer support. Always check compatibility.

Device Problems

A device problem can have more than one cause. DrvBeacon surfaces reported Windows device issues and gives clear context, without assuming every issue needs a driver update.

Official Driver Sources

Use Windows Update or the exact PC manufacturer’s official support system. Component drivers may differ from an OEM laptop’s customized package.

Driver detection and update recommendations are in development. This page provides information, not scan results or driver downloads.

Before changing a driver

  1. Identify the affected device in Device Manager. Code 28 means a driver is missing; other codes can have different causes.
  2. Check the exact PC model, Windows version, and system architecture.
  3. Start with Windows Update or the PC manufacturer. Read package notes and retain a recovery option.
  4. Do not update BIOS or firmware solely because a newer version exists. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for your model.
