NVIDIA Drivers — How to Choose the Correct Windows Driver
The right NVIDIA driver depends on the GPU and supported Windows release, not just the word GeForce on a sticker. Start by identifying whether the system is a notebook, a desktop card or a professional workstation, then choose the appropriate official branch.

Find the GPU that actually needs a driver
In Device Manager, expand Display adapters and inspect each entry. A laptop may have integrated graphics alongside an NVIDIA GPU; these are separate devices. If Windows shows Microsoft Basic Display Adapter, use Properties, Details, Hardware Ids and the computer's official specification to establish the hardware instead of guessing.
Check Windows version and system type in Settings, System, About. Use NVIDIA's official selector for the supported product and operating system. Do not assume every older GPU receives the same current branch, or that an x64 package supports an ARM64 system.
Choose a branch for the supported product and use
For supported GeForce products, Game Ready drivers focus on game releases while Studio drivers target creative workflows. Choose based on the official descriptions and release notes for your product, not a claim that one is always faster or more stable. Do not try to install two branches to combine their features.
Professional workstation products can use different driver offerings. Select the actual product family and review application requirements where relevant. NVIDIA's official site provides manual selection and optional application-based updates; neither removes the need to check compatibility and known issues.
Check notebook support before replacing the OEM driver
The laptop maker may supply a tested package for graphics switching, display connections or power behavior. Begin there when troubleshooting a notebook-specific issue. NVIDIA also directs notebook users to their OEM's certified support; a generic supported GPU package is not proof that a particular laptop feature will behave identically.
A black screen, crash or disconnected monitor is not automatically a driver-selection problem. Check cables, display input and the device status first. Keep a usable OEM package available, and avoid aggressive removal tools as a routine first troubleshooting step.
Download officially and verify the original symptom
Use the approved NVIDIA support destination below, read the selected package details and follow its instructions. Windows Update is another legitimate route for applicable drivers. Save work before installation and check the display and affected application after any requested restart.
DrvBeacon can report detected graphics and installed-driver state, while its Manual Driver Finder helps research another PC. It never guesses a direct executable link merely from a GPU name and does not automatically install drivers. Avoid repackaged downloads, lookalike domains and requests to disable security software.
Choose your next step
Use the evidence you collected. The Manual Driver Finder works for another PC without a scan. A scan of this PC requires the local Windows scanner; check scanner availability and setup first. DrvBeacon reads information and never installs a driver automatically.
