Wi-Fi Driver Missing in Windows 11

If Wi-Fi disappears after reinstalling Windows, the wireless driver is one possibility. A disabled radio, a device problem or a computer with no Wi-Fi hardware can look similar. Separate those cases before removing drivers or resetting the network.

Missing Wi-Fi is different from no internet

A visible wireless adapter that connects to a network but cannot reach the internet is a different problem from a missing Wi-Fi control. Check whether another device can use the same network; that helps separate a PC issue from an access-point or internet-service problem.

Check that Wi-Fi is on and airplane mode is off. If the computer has a physical wireless switch or a manufacturer-specific radio key, consult its instructions. Do not change firmware settings based only on a missing Windows menu.

Find out whether Windows sees the adapter

Right-click Start → Device Manager. Look under Network adapters and Other devices. A Network Controller can be the wireless adapter without a selected driver; its name alone is not enough to choose a download.

  1. Open the suspected device's Properties and read General → Device status. Note whether it reports Code 28, a disabled device or a different error.
  2. Use Details → Hardware Ids if the name is generic. Then identify the exact PC model and Windows system type.
  3. If there is no current adapter entry, select Action → Scan for hardware changes. View → Show hidden devices can reveal historical entries, but a greyed-out entry does not prove the hardware is currently present.

Find the official package while offline

Use a different connected computer to open the affected PC manufacturer's support site. Select the exact model, Windows version and wireless category. Some models ship with several wireless-card options: compare the support description with your evidence instead of choosing the first file.

Transfer the matching official package using a USB drive. Check the file came from the official site and follow its installation instructions on the affected PC. Keep the package available until Wi-Fi works. A compatible Ethernet connection or another supported network adapter can also provide temporary internet access; neither is guaranteed to work without its own driver.

The Manual Driver Finder is useful here because your browsing computer does not limit the target model. Do not enter serial numbers, service tags or account information into general searches. Keep exact device identifiers out of public comments.

If a driver is already installed

If Device Manager reports a working wireless adapter, use Microsoft's connection troubleshooting rather than repeatedly reinstalling packages. Network reset is disruptive: it can remove adapter settings and require VPN or virtual-network software to be configured again. It is not the first step for an unidentified adapter.

Once connectivity is restored, check Windows Update for applicable updates and test a normal connection after restarting. If the adapter still is not detected, ask the PC manufacturer about hardware diagnostics. DrvBeacon can report detection and driver status, but cannot prove that an absent radio is physically faulty or restore internet connectivity by itself.

Choose your next step

Use the evidence you collected. The Manual Driver Finder works for another PC without a scan. A scan of this PC requires the local Windows scanner; check scanner availability and setup first. DrvBeacon reads information and never installs a driver automatically.
