Intel Ethernet Controller I225-V Driver for Windows

I225-V is a wired Ethernet controller commonly exposed as an onboard network device. Keep BIOS and driver version fields separate when comparing motherboard support records. Its driver is separate from Wi-Fi, even if both appear under Network adapters. After a Windows reinstall, an unknown Ethernet Controller may need a driver; when the controller is already working, no link or a slow connection may instead involve the cable, switch port or network settings.

Compatibility confidence: Not verified

Exact driver could not be verified automatically. DrvBeacon will not guess a driver when compatibility cannot be verified. Select your exact model and Windows version in the official support system. Compatibility has not been established.

Identify the device in Device Manager

  1. Locate the Ethernet controller in Device Manager and open Properties → Details → Hardware Ids. Compare VEN_8086 and DEV_15F3 and retain the SUBSYS and REV values.
  2. Identify the motherboard's exact product and revision, not only the system manufacturer displayed by Windows.
  3. Compare the motherboard support package with Intel's I225-V resources and check that the Windows package covers your OS and architecture.

Vendor/device identity for I225-V; subsystem and revision still matter for the installed motherboard configuration.

These public vendor/device values help identify a device family. Do not discard subsystem information when checking OEM compatibility, and do not share raw device-instance paths or private scan credentials.

Windows and architecture requirements

Intel's I225-V product downloads list Windows 10 and Windows 11 resources. Choose the individual package for the Windows edition and build you actually use.

Check the architecture on the selected Windows package. This landing page does not verify any ARM64 or Windows Server package.

This is guidance about official resources, not verification of a particular file, release date or driver version. Check the current package notes and your PC model before any manual installation.

OEM and subsystem considerations

For onboard LAN, the PC or motherboard maker may provide the most appropriate platform-specific driver and instructions. Do not install a firmware or NVM utility merely because it appears near a network driver. Such changes need the manufacturer's exact board/revision procedure and are outside DrvBeacon's read-only workflow.

Troubleshoot before changing software

Separate missing-driver errors from a connection fault. Code 28 supports investigating a missing driver; a working device with no link calls for checking the cable and network endpoint first. Record the installed provider and version before comparing official notes. A newer version number alone does not confirm that it fixes the symptom or matches the hardware revision.

A Device Manager error code, the installed driver provider and the affected feature are better evidence than age alone. Avoid random driver sites, unofficial mirrors and driver-pack aggregators. Do not disable Windows security to run a downloaded file.

When Windows Update is appropriate

Windows Update can offer a compatible driver based on the actual PC. In Windows 11, inspect Settings → Windows Update → Advanced options → Optional updates. In Windows 10, optional driver updates appear under Windows Update when available. An entry must actually be applicable; this public page cannot check your PC or claim that an update is available.

DrvBeacon?s optional scanner checks the configured Windows Update source and only recommends a Windows Update action when device matching and applicability are confirmed. An offline, incomplete or policy-restricted check leaves availability unknown. No driver is installed automatically.
