Network driver resources for Windows

Wi-Fi and Ethernet need different drivers even when both appear under Network adapters. Start with the affected connection and Device Manager status. A disabled radio, damaged cable or router fault does not establish that a driver is missing.

Checks before choosing a driver

  1. For an unknown Network Controller, read Hardware Ids instead of guessing from the CPU or PC brand.
  2. For onboard Ethernet, keep the motherboard model and revision; for a laptop, check its exact-model OEM support first.
  3. Check genuinely applicable Windows Update optional drivers. An incomplete or offline check leaves availability unknown.

A newer version number or driver date alone is not proof of compatibility. Read the official package notes and keep the current working configuration in mind before a manual change.
